Section “A” | 3 | Philip Woodwell, Honoree United States Air Force Accompanied by the Patriot Riders | Philip is a 93-year-old originally from Reading, Pennsylvania, who at the age of 18 joined the United States Air Force, serving from 1949 to 1953. He acquired the rank of Staff Sargent. This Korean War Era Veteran followed the footsteps of his two brothers and sister, who had joined the military during WWII. Philip became very proficient in Early Radar Advances during the cold war while serving in Alaska. He saw the phasing out of the B-29 and the introduction of its replacement, the B-37 and experienced flying over the North Pole in a B-29. Philip worked on the State-of-the-Arts Communication Advances in the early 50’s. Upon leaving military life, his technical knowledge was put to good use. As the race for space was in full swing, he had a front row seat in the battle over technology between the USA and the Soviet Union. His 20-year-tenure with Boeing Aircraft allowed him the opportunity to contribute to many programs, including the “Star Wars Program” and the development of the first working infrared device, which created the first television remote control. Philip Woodwell finally retired in the early 1990’s to Tampa Bay Florida where he and his family have lived for over 30 years. |

They are NOT considered POW, MIA, or KIA per the United States Military records. |

Section “B” | 5 FLOAT | Krewe of Agustina de Aragon | The Krewe of Agustina is themed after a Spanish heroine, Agustina de Aragon of Zaragoza, Spain. She became a national heroine when Napoleon’s Army besieged the town and 1808. As the French began to attack, the civilians fled leaving Agustina to grab the linstock from the dying gunner and fired the cannon at point blank range into the advancing army. The shot was was devastating and turned the tide of the battle. |

Section “D” | 6 FLOAT | Thieves of San Lorenzo | The Krewe’s name, signature red heart bead and motto ‘WE’LL STEAL YOUR HEART” came from a heartwarming story that took place centuries ago on the Caribbean Isle of San Lorenzo. The legend tells how these women and their beautiful settlement were victimized by pirates while their men were away at war. These strong willed, independent ladies acted and stole back what was theirs, thus stealing the hearts of their community. Today’s Thieves represent 110hardworking women. Staying true to their heritage, they have fun and focus on giving back to the community they love through volunteerism and charitable work. Their 4 local charities are: Shriners, Ronald McDonald House and the Veteran’s Hospitals along with The Crisis Center of Tampa Bay. |

We have a variety of backgrounds including NFL and College alumni dancers, dance studio owners, choreographers and others who enjoy the camaraderie of staying healthy while entertaining and helping others |

Section “E” | 2 FLOAT | Marine Families | The Krewe of Semper Fi was founded in 2018. Semper Fidelis, usually shorted to Semper Fi, is the motto of the United States Marine Corps and is Latin for “always faithful.” Faithful to God, Country, Family, and the Corps. The Krewe of Semper Fi float is a Marine Corp Tank. Krewe of Semper Fi men are dressed as mechanics in full coveralls. The women are dressed as Rosie the Riveter who was a cultural icon and the star of a campaign aimed at recruiting female workers for defense industries. Walking with the Krewe of Semper Fi are active duty military from the Marine Corps and the Navy. Each parade, the Krewe of Semper Fi will invite military guests to walk together to promote comradery between all military branches and the Tampa Bay community. The Krewe of Semper Fi is an outreach program of Marine Families, a Florida based organization that “Honors, Supports, Educates and Inspires” military, veterans and their families. The Marine Families Organization provides community outreach, while promoting awareness and education on the daily sacrifices being made by our military. Although founded by marine parents, Marine Families is inclusive of all branches, veterans and patriotic supporters. With programs such as the Yellow Ribbon project, Wreaths Across America, and now the Krewe of Semper Fi, the Marine Families organization believes a military journey is not meant to walk alone.
